Mariazell was first documented in 1243. It was renovated between 1992 and 2007. A modern, hybrid ABUS video surveillance system was installed to protect this important pilgrimage site and cultural asset.
Challenge and solution
Reduce the amount of data and motion-detected recording
Uses two ABUS 32-channel HDVR Hybrid Digital Video Recorder systems
The highly efficient H.264 video compression process drastically reduces the amount of data generated
Motion-triggered recording, a security feature of the integrated video management software, can further reduce the amount of data
Efficient and simple operation and data export
Live viewing, recording, playback, exporting and network access are all simultaneously possible with the HDVR
Use a DVD burner with USB connection for easy data export to DVD
The Mariazell- Basilica
Hybrid video surveillance
The Roman Catholic Basilica of Mariazell is the most important place of pilgrimage in Austria and one of the most famous in Europe. A wooden image of the Virgin Mary, the Magna Mater Austriae, is venerated in this place of grace built in the 12th century. The sculptural decoration of the organ gallery and the organ case were made by Viennese sculptor Johann Wagner in 1740. To monitor all cultural-historical objects and to preserve the continuing stream of visitors, an ageing analogue recording system was replaced by a modern hybrid one from ABUS.
